The nuthatch was creeping along the tree trunk, struck a typical pose and then was off. These birds are constantly on the move so I was pleased to get this photo before it flew away.
A phenomenal shot. You make we want a longer tele to get in closer. Canon’s tiny RF 600mm F11 is enticing for the money. Though, I’m sure my 70-200 would be fine if I sat still for long enough.
We love the nuthatches and see them frequently at the cabin. They seem to defy gravity and act as if the center of the tree trunk they’re on is always “down.” How do they do that?

Thanks very much. The 70-200mm is a great birding lens.

Nice capture, Belinda! These heads-down birds always make me smile, their ‘ha-ha’ call sounds like they are laughing. 🙂

It has something to do with a backwards facing toe. They certainly are fun to watch.

I love their calls and their antics. We have the red-breasted nuthatch here, but I imagine their behaviours are very similar.

They are spirited little birds. We only see the red breasted occasionally.
