Nothing common about this Common or European Starling. Their plumage is extremely colourful and unlike many birds in the neighbourhood, they never shy away from my camera.

It is a very beautiful bird and I like the serious look as he seems to study the dandelion. Nice catch!

They have beautiful feathers when you see them up close, but I don’t like their habits. Not my favourite bird at all, but the photo is wonderful.

They are attractive birds but can be loud and messy too. I understand gardeners aren’t great fans. Glad you like the photo though.

They’re very aggressive. They wait for a robin to find a worm and then fly down to bully them away and take their food. They are considered invasive and aggressive towards other birds and their nesting habits.

You have caught this one in a particularly attractive pose and, I note from the yellow beak, in full breeding mode. The beaks of those visiting our garden are slowly changing from dark to yellow – a warning that time marches on!
