Goldfinches breed later in the summer than a lot of other birds. I watched as the goldfinch gathered nesting material and flew back and forth to her nest deep in the trees.
Sweet capture, Belinda. As they are primarily seedeaters, their hatch is timed perfectly for when seeds start to ripen. Smart birds! They are already mining my older zinnias for fresh seed. ๐
What a pretty girl. We used to see them here once in a while. I haven’t seen one in a couple of years now. Seems like a lot of the special songbirds are disappearing. Very nice photo, Belinda.
That’s good. At least we know they are still okay in your area. Many bird types seem to be on the decline here. Not sure why. Harsh weather, or pesticides? We’ve had some unusually harder winters from what we’re used to.

Thank you, Ellen. She was intent on her work and my presence didnโt bother her at all.

Thatโs a shame, Iโm seeing the usual number here. They are pretty birds. Thanks, Anneli.

A beautiful action photograph – I love seeing creatures in the throes of ‘doing’ things and this one is well captured.
