We found a new spot along the river this spring. It has a nice trail, few crowds and a fair amount of wildlife. One day last week I noticed some movement in the reeds and to my delight I saw this young beaver. The vegetation along the shore was thick so I had to wait a long while before I could get a clear shot. He looked like one contented beaver!

I see evidence of beaver activity at area lakes, but haven’t been lucky enough to spot one.

There may be some in the northern part of the state. It’s very much forest there.
Here… we had what May have been one, seen by transplanted Yankees, in a large swamp. However, the only mammals we have in swamps are River Otters, because they are fast. I know that particular ‘maybe’ Beaver met an Alligator. Which is probably why we have none, gators are fast.

Maybe the sighting was wishful thinking on their part. Here beavers have to be on the look out for certain predators, not gators though 😏

Young beavers are so cute. I saw one many, many years ago and still remember how sweet he looked – much like this one.
