I noticed a nice grouping of Queen Anne’s Lace that I wanted to photograph. When I got a little closer I noticed a Common Red Soldier Beetle walking along its surface. They are partial to open-structured flowers.

That beetle has a lot of nerve photobombing those lovely lace images. Then again, maybe the beetle simply thought they were the star of the show. In any case, they co-exist quite well here!

Nice! Looks like that beetle has a lot to grip on there. Do they feed on flower nectar? I’m pretty sure we have these bugs around here.

The creamy white of the Queen Anne’s lace sets off the beetle’s colours, and the contrast between the soft texture of the white and the gloss of the beetle’s coat add to the perfection.
