This is such a lovely photo 🙂
Like you, we have wondered where most of our local birds have gone this summer…
(It has been a record-breaking summer in our region, so we have been missing our birds)
I hope you will be able to see more chickadees soon 🙂
We’ve said the same thing this year – where are all the chickadees. We had a few, but not the numbers we usually have. We love having them around and really missed the greater numbers this year. Ours are the chestnut-backed chickadees, but same family.
Our state bird. When we had the feeders out there were always black-capped chickadees hanging around. Did you ever try to attract them to your finger by pishing? It does work sometimes.

Thanks very much!
I hope this is not a troubling trend. We have had a similar summer.
I wish you many bird sighting too 😊

One of my favorites, I think they head to the woods in summer, then return to our feeders in the fall. I think most birds are always on the move. 🙂

Not year round. If we get them it would be a big deal! We have the Mountain Chickadee here.

It is strange.
I just had a look at the chestnut-backed chickadee. Its colouring is beautiful.

Yes, I think so too. A rich chestnut colour.

A lot of Canadian cities and at least one province have adopted the chickadee. I haven’t tried pishing, I tend to whistle in their direction 😊

They are, as well as being quite inquisitive and unafraid of people.
