The temperature has cooled off somewhat so it’s more pleasant to get out with our cameras. Although I’m not seeing the number of birds I usually do, I have seen quite a few young wood ducks. This female was going for a quiet swim when I caught up with her.

The drake wood duck is always so flashy that we often overlook the females. I’ve learned to appreciate their plumage (design and patterns) because of your photos, Belinda. Thank you!

She’s so pretty! It’s quieter here as well bird wise. It might be the fires causing smoke in our area, but summer is usually less birdy but, it does seem quieter out back. I’ve only seen a few Yellow-headed black birds and Red-wing ones as well. I wonder where they went this summer?
It’s heating up here we’re expecting to be in the 90’s all week. Heading into August which is our hottest month.

Thank you, Deborah! It’s been a quiet season here too. The flowers are wonderful but birds and insects are way down.
