Yes, we have lots of widgeons (or wigeons), but not very many wood ducks. I think I’ve only seen glimpses of one or two wood ducks ever, but thousands of widgeons.
Oh he’s a beauty! I love their eyes. They always looks so cute to me. I was out birding yesterday doing my first Big Day and saw two female American Wigeons, no males. I hope your beauty finds his way here to keep the two females I saw company this winter. π
The ducks are missingβ¦I mean there are none π΅βπ«. Storms or other man made nonsense is takings its toll in the Lowcountry. We are a major resting or migration site with plenty of space for them. π‘

A sweet duck, I like the colored reflections and pads that surround it.

Thank you, Eliza! We see so few that itβs always nice to see one, especially this time of year.

They are such lovely ducks! This fellow was on his own, maybe his mate and her sister flew out ahead of him π

I do too. This is an area in the southern US known for it’s wildlife. It would be a crime.

It would! Y’all have taken a beating recently down there. I missed Helene by a week! Hopefully they’ll start coming home soon! Migration is on!

Iβm sorry to hear that. Itβs been a strange year here as well. Iβve had few sighting of the usual summer migrants to this area. π
