We decided to walk along the river in search of a breeze as the temperature continues to rise. Not much relief there but we did see some birds including this juvenile Canada Goose. He’s beginning to lose his down and acquire juvenile plumage. His parent wasn’t far behind; they remain with their parents for about a year.

We have a few looking just like this. With this heat I don’t think they have any plans to return home soon either. At this point they prefer sleeping under the trees around the neighborhood, taking. Dunk in the ponds when they get hot too. In short, it’s a great vacation spot.

I think somewhere in the middle would be a lot better. It has been brutal this year. I have my coffee around dawn out on the back porch. But it’s been close to 80 in the AM. I hate to say this…I’m just too old to be cooking myself out with a camera 😩

They’re forecasting a humidex this afternoon of 46C/114F. I won’t be wondering around outside either 🥵

They’re so cute at that age but of course will become grumpier as they near adulthood. 😉 A nice capture, Belinda.

Thank you, Lynette! I edged past an adult on a path recently and didn’t take my eyes off it 😏

They certainly do and can walk and swim within a day or two of hatching, amazing!

I see he has a few real feathers coming in. Love to see young birds growing up successfully. They face so many dangers in that vulnerable stage.

And, soon to be lifting off for very long migrations! He may end up down here in the desert on the man made waterways and lakes.
