The bluet damselfly is a common visitor in early summer, often seen near bodies of water. Like many birds and insects, when they become accustomed to your presence they’ll often linger for a portrait.
That’s a great image of one, Belinda! We’re closer to longer and warmer days already. It won’t be long before we see them darting around the ponds again.
Thanks so much for this bright spot of summer, Belinda. What a fantastic photo this is with the colorful contrasts and sweetness — the sparkle of the leaf, the details of this brilliant bluet.

Love bluets, and how I hope to be able to share time with more of them next year. This year has been way too crazy and I’ve missed them.

It’s a wonderful shade of blue and their eyes are huge, helpful in their search for food on the fly.

They are prettier and less scary than their cousins, the dragonflies.
