Some picnickers had just packed up and this ring-billed gull was checking for any leftovers. There was nothing left behind but the gull was polite enough to wait until they had gone.
Nice one, not all are so shy/polite. I’ve seen them on the beach raiding picnic baskets, you really have to hide any edibles quite well if you want to walk or go for a swim!
They are opportunists and scavengers, and I suppose they do their bit to keep the scraps cleaned up. But yes, be careful not to walk under them when they are flying around.
I enjoy your delightful commentary – it was indeed polite of the gull to wait. How awful if it had dive-bombed the picnickers! Your title is a lovely tongue-in-cheek one too ๐

Nice! I love seagulls and their expressions. They have a lot of character like the gull here. Looks very intelligent … like it knows!

I always wear a hat when out with my camera. Provides good protection from UV rays and these guys ๐
