STOPS ALONG THE WAY

ON FROZEN POND

I took this photo in late fall as the water was just beginning to freeze. Mallards tolerate the cold and quite a few remain in this location all year. We’re under an extreme cold warning tonight and while we add on the layers, I can’t helping wondering how the ducks will manage.

Handsome fella! It’s amazing how they survive drastic changes in weather and temps.

I worry about the wildlife, too, on these super cold days and nights. Hope they hunker down and make it through.

We actually hit freezing last night. Makes me wonder about all the big herons tree top and the Eagles sitting on young. Winter is short here, but it’s still a winter 😳
