I took this photo in late fall as the water was just beginning to freeze. Mallards tolerate the cold and quite a few remain in this location all year. We’re under an extreme cold warning tonight and while we add on the layers, I can’t helping wondering how the ducks will manage.

Handsome fella! It’s amazing how they survive drastic changes in weather and temps.

I worry about the wildlife, too, on these super cold days and nights. Hope they hunker down and make it through.

We drove by here this morning, not a duck in sight. I do hope they’re hunkering down 🤞

We actually hit freezing last night. Makes me wonder about all the big herons tree top and the Eagles sitting on young. Winter is short here, but it’s still a winter 😳

That sounds cold for your part of the country. I hope it warms up quickly everywhere!

One more cold morning of -3 C which is really cold for us. However our winter is only January. Ellen being from Maine will do her 4 mile walk in the AM.
I will have an extra cup of coffee by the fire.
