I’ve noticed lately that quite a few of my comments on other people’s blogs aren’t being received. https://wordsfromanneli.com/ mentioned that she found one of mine in her SPAM folder. I just checked my folder and there are comments sent to me that I hadn’t seen so hadn’t replied to.
It might be an idea to check your SPAM folder (and that tin of suspicious luncheon meat in the back of your cupboard 🙂 ). You never know what you might find.

I know, this has happened to me too. My spam comments are out of control so it’s hard to sift through all of them to find legitimate ones. I’ll take a look now though.

Thanks for the warning! (In my normal email, my son’s teacher’s emails suddenly began landing in the Spam folder and have continued to do so even though I’ve repeatedly marked them as “not Spam”. I guess when it is happening elsewhere too.

It’s good to check as you never know what finds its way there.

After you asked me about your comment I went to look at my spam folder and found 7 comments in it. YIKES! I’ve approved them so hopefully, you won’t be in my spam folder again.

WordPress goes through periodic burps. I too have spam bucket issues at times. We have used WordPress since it was first released as a service (.com), even before. Best to check once in a while… if you remember. 😂😂.

It sure seems to affect a lot of users. I think I’ll let WP know the response to this issue.

Good luck. 🤣. These are the same people who brought you the block editor… the best thing for users ever ! Says the new IT people.
The block editor is a rehash of Microsoft Front Page, Adobe and Coffee Cup HTML editors. Spectacular failures 😊. But their new (then) IT people didn’t see it was a copy of something else… goes on and on 🤣

Exact same thing happened on my blog – at least 4 completely legit comments got scooped up by my spam filter. Luckily I check the folder from time to time and found them – every odd.

I get loads of spam every day in my WP folder (I wish I didn’t!), so I have to empty it once or twice a day. Dozens and dozens of them, but I still check through them on the odd chance a legit comment gets in there.

That’s a lot to sift through. I have to check mine more often.

Thanks for the heads up. I had been having some issues with posting comments (they just weren’t going through), but that seems to have resolved itself.

In my case it’s not a case of needing my approval to moderate the comments. I will be checking my spam folder more though.

over the many years i have been on wp, this problem seems to pop up from time to time. wp gets glitchy from time to time. its always good to check your comment section to see if you have any waiting.

Thanks for getting back to me, John. If more people respond, I’ll contact WP again.
In the meantime this is what they concluded:
“If the comment is not being found on their end, it may have been that the comment was not submitted. It may be that when you submitted the comment, there was an error that caused the comment to not go through. This might happen due to your connection dropping off, or the button not being pressed to submit the comment.
The owner of the blog may also have comments to moderate before being published on the blog, which is set by them directly. If you find that the comment is not being published on the site, that is likely why. It can take some time for the blog owner to approve the comment to appear on the blog. It will vary depending on the blog owner’s settings.
I hope this helps. If you have any other questions about this or anything else, feel free to let us know.
All the best,
Susan C
