Early November, before winter has truly set in is a nice time to be at the lake. As the ice begins to form, a fall tableau is revealed under the frozen surface of the water. The park is quiet and expectant, waiting like us all for the long season of cold and snow that’s quickly approaching.

The second image is striking. It looks like an oil painting.

Looks tranquil and beautiful, Belinda. That does look like a beaver dam but it’s not really damming anything, but what do I know? 😄

Thank you Jane, it’s a wonderful spot. Several beaver lodges at this lake.

That lake could just as easily be our valley with its flooded areas.

We had a lot of flooding in our area this summer. The water receded somewhat but with the snow melt to come we might be in for more this spring.

Definitely there’ll be flooding here with all this excess of rain.

The cold, stillness of winter – you captured it well. I also noticed the beaver dam! We had them on our property many years ago.

Thank you Donna. There’s something about the quality of the ice at the beginning of winter that I have to photograph!

Nice idea using the beaver damn (or what looks like one, I can never tell).

It’s one of several in the lake. One time we saw a beaver swim up to a lodge then add mud to reinforce the structure. Amazing!

A Beaver damn in there too? It’s a lovely place to be. I would be happy wandering around here anytime!
