I caught a glimpse of the garden through the Porcupine Grass. An interesting plant tthat I’ve never noticed before. Too bad I didn’t see its namesake too😏

I think that’s what we call zebra grass, but I could be wrong. It’s pretty anyway.

I wasn’t quite sure but went with porcupine. It is attractive. I hope you’re ok and not near the wildfires,

Yes, we’re good. Thanks, Belinda. We’re on Vancouver Island and the bad fires are in the Okanagan Valley in the BC interior. Some sad stories there of people losing homes and some loss of life – one during the evacuation (fortunately not many, but still, one life is too much). It must be terrifying for those people who are affected, and there are many of them.

It seems to be worse every year. Maybe one day, communities will think ahead and make better preparations for something that is more and more likely to become a problem, now that we are becoming more aware of this probability.

Until/unless climate change is addressed these fires will continue to get worse. You have to wonder when the population will finally say it’s enough.

I think we’re getting closer to that tolerance level. People are speaking up. Something should have been done to be prepared.

Thanks, Belinda. We are right on the edge of it with lots of evacuation alerts or orders hard against the city’s western boundary. Most evacuees have come here to Penticton so we grew by about 20,000 overnight Friday. We’re blanketed by a thick smoke layer but otherwise okay. Fingers crossed we stay that way although we have organised ourselves and are ready to leave if we have to.
