Mimic flies are fun to photograph. If I had my macro lens with me, I would have concentrated on the insect but as I didn’t I took the shot I could. I rarely carry more than one lens when I go out so if I see something worth taking I’ll give it a go.

This works really well, so don’t regret not taking the other lens; most of the time I only carry one lens, albeit a zoom; if I’m in the car, sometimes its two cameras with a lens on each. Very good picture that benefits from all of the negative space. 🙂

I love these little flies(also called hover flies or syrphids, I think) with those prism effects on the wings. Looks like someone else was hanging out below.

Whatever lens it was, it turned out beautiful. Haven’t heard the word “teasel” for a long time. I don’t think it grows around here.

I’ve never used ‘teasel’ in a sentence before 😊. There are about 15 varieties of the plant, and insects love them.
