Balancing Act

Japanese beetles are a form of scarab beetle and were introduced to North America in the early 1900’s. They have beautiful colouring but are highly destructive to plants and crops. This one was balancing on some Queen Anne’s Lace.

I’m trying not to think of the destruction this pretty beetle inflicts on our plants.

Fantastic photo, Belinda. Without doubt, it’s a beauty. Too bad that this Japanese beetle is ruining the (endemic) vegetation. Have a great weekend.

Obviously an accidental introduction! Love the Queen Anne’s Lace.

Nice beetle that makes me think at the cockchafer (Melolontha melolontha).
We don’t have this beetle in Western Europe, however in 2014 a few were detected in Switserland an Nord Italy. Have a nice weekend Belinda and greets from Belgium.
