STOPS ALONG THE WAY

Thin Ice

This frog and its mates have probably burrowed into the mud at the bottom of a lake and are preparing for the winter. Although with the temperature icy cold one day and warming up the next, I wonder how all animals that hibernate will survive. I know people don’t know what to make of this weather pattern…

Fun fact: frogs have compounds in their bloodstream such as glycol: literally anti-freeze!

Great shot! More than a year ago we had too much rain. The past few months we have lacked rain. Water levels are way down here.

Hope the little guy has a safe winter. People don’t often think about how global warming affects our creatures.

Hi Belinda – that’s a great picture. I also wonder how hibernating animals are managing with this weather.

Nice capture, Belinda. It feels like a dicey game, wondering how the flora and fauna (and thus we) are going to deal with the changes. 😬

The specie doesn’t die off, so I guess they know what to do unlike us more intelligent specie? Those warm and cold days are what I call flip-flop season, not meaning the shoe. Cute photo, Belinda! ❤️
