Except for the one day at our local nature center, I haven’t seen much at all in the way of butterflies this year. And that is especially true at our house. The zinnias in our front yard attract butterflies every year. However, so far this year, we haven’t seen any on our zinnias at all
.
Yes, more Bees, pollinators in general, than previous years. Things are changing fast I fear. Our tiny tree frogs are seriously missing. They are a favorite subject for local photogs and every one comments on the lack of the little guys.

True, I haven’t seen too many butterflies this summer, maybe because it is too hot?
A nice shot Belinda!

It makes you wonder. I hope this year is an exception and not a sign of future weather patterns.

Belinda, it’s a fantastic image of it! I’ve seen a few flitting round the golf course and yard this year here.

Thank you, Deborah! They are usually the first butterflies we see and they’re the most numerous.

Sad to say our butterfly count is down again this year. We have flowers, all around, but still not many.

We’ve seen fewer insects of all kinds this summer, except for bees. The one bright spot.

The warning signs seem out there. It certainly is worrying.

It either posed well or you have a quick finger and a steady hand. This is a lovely photograph.

I think the butterfly is more popular than its caterpillar.

I haven’t seen many this year either, maybe only five or six. Beautiful capture of this lovely white one, Belinda. 😊

I think the cold start to spring might explain the lack of insects this summer. I’m glad you enjoyed the photo, Lynette, thank you.
