I took this photo earlier in the summer. Cabbage whites are some of the first butterflies we see in the spring and they’re still flying well into September. Given how cool the nights are getting you have to marvel at their tenacity.
Yes, one of our more common ones, along with frittilaries, skippers and yellow tiger swallowtails. Thankfully, monarchs have been having a good year here as well.
That is Pieris rapae? Interesting, didn’t know that had travelled across the Atlantic, although I see from invasive species websites that it has gone global. I suppose that was inevitable given its diet.
