I took this photo in mid-December, a few years back. We’ve seen very little snow this winter, more rain than anything else. Today is colder though so maybe we’ll see some soon. A December without any snow is unusual. I wonder if this is the new normal …

We’ve had no snow either in the northeast – but we had a ridiculous few days of rain last week. You’re right, though, this could be the new normal. Let’s hope you can take some cute squirrels in the snow pictures soon! Happy New Year, Belinda!

Yes, a lingering fall… however, I expect snow is right around the corner. 😉

No snow down in the valley here either. I think it’s just a cycle in the weather pattern. Snow will be back! Plus we got hammered last winter perhaps Mother Nature is giving us a break for a little bit. 😀
Happy New Year, Belinda!

Oh my gosh, YES!!! We were shoveling up to 4 times a day most the winter last year. 😀😮

What a little cutie! Great photo! Yes, I also wonder if it’s the new normal. Temperatures even in the subarctic have been at times above zero this month.

Thank you, Lynette!
I had heard that. I had wondered if the ice roads are still operable.

They’re usually open by now but I understand there have been delays – not surprising

It must be very tough on some northern communities.

It can be, but often can be helped in a pinch by various flying companies.

Less harsh winters are easier to handle, it just doesn’t feel quite right.

I know what you mean. There is one other downside to a mild winter – there is less winter kill of insects. That’s a good thing for the birds, but not so good for people and gardeners.
