A took this photograph in a friend’s garden in mid-August.She told me its name which I’ve forgotten but I believe it’s a member of the orchid family. A summer beauty.
That’s a beautiful flower!! I’d love to have a whole garden full of them. But having to dig them out for the winter doesn’t sound so appealing. Very pretty design though.
It’s an Acidanthera “Peacock Lily” although it formally belongs to the Gladiolus genus in the Iris family (Iridaceae), which means that it is not an orchid. It is native to South Africa, and in our climate it has to be dug out before frost damages it, and replanted in the spring.

Nice lighting, Belinda. I love these gladiola, they smell sweet, too.
