Your title gave me a double take! It has been unusually warm this winter, but too soon for the end of winter. I’m looking forward to sugaring season. 🙂
5 and 6 degrees in the daytime, 1 and 2 at night, keeping mostly above freezing, but it has been very windy and rainy, and that wind cuts like a knife. Still, the green leaves of the daffodils are up about 3 inches.
I quick search for what they eat says they sometimes eat small fish, perhaps that is how they sustain themselves until the weeds grow? I love hearing them fly over my house way down here, sometimes at night! How can they fly at night? Do they have built-in IFL technology?
I can appreciate how much you look forward to spring. Here the weather is cooling down and the darkness draws in every earlier, while the sun becomes increasingly reluctant to rise!

Lovely scene, I’m wishing for an early Spring too! 🙂 I love that goose on the left, napping and balancing on just one leg. How they do that amazes me!

Enough of winter now. We have had a few scenes like this on our local lake in the UK.

I often wonder what these “early birds” find to eat as their main diet is grass and vegetation 😏

It’s the same every year about this time. Spring can’t arrive soon enough 😏
